Pizza Night!

Image
(posted by Emily) During our juice cleanse, I spent a lot of time pinning new recipes on Pinterest. Tonight was the first chance we had to try something new--I was inspired by this Buffalo Cauliflower Pizza recipe , and decided to try my hand at a BBQ Cauliflower Pizza. It was a delicious experiment :)  I started with a batch of cauliflower bites . While they were baking, I mixed up the dough for the pizza crust. We really like Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Pizza Crust mix --it always has great results.  cauliflower bites ready for the oven dough ready to be mixed Once the cauliflower was out of the oven, I got the crusts ready to par bake.  greased baking sheets with a dusting of cornmeal While they got going for 8 minute sans toppings, I tossed the cauliflower in BBQ sauce, chopped some red onion, and got some cilantro ready to go.  I used a mix of TJs BBQ sauces for this project--the All Natural is awesome, but can be a bit spicy, so I

(posted by Emily)  Guys. When we started this blog thing about two years ago, I never imagined this site would be much more than a recipe archive, and a way to stay in touch with our friends and family. Well, it's officially time to celebrate.  Last night, we hit a record number of pageviews for A Veg Life. 275 people looked at the blog yesterday, shattering our previous records by almost 200 views. Or maybe you just hit refresh a whole bunch of times. Either way, we got more hits than we've ever had before, and that's because of you!  Needless to say, we feel the love :) Thank you for your support, your feedback, and your engagement. We're going to keep doing what we're doing because clearly, it's working! --E&R

Hello!

(posted by Emily) Hello from my Bluetooth keyboard! This is a test post from the iPad, just to see how things turn out. I am curious to see what the formatting is like, as I drop in pictures from the iPhone, but compose text on here. It is definitely faster and more comfortable to type on here than to use the regular touch screen keyboard. Clearly, I am anxious for our trips to get underway!                                       mobile blogging set up on the couch I am sort of a font/formatting snob, so we'll see what this post gets us. Does it look any different to those of you on a computer? I tend to prefer sans serif fonts (things like Helvetica and Arial) over more traditional fonts like Times New Roman. Here's hoping this turns out okay on a computer screen :) I was all ready to post a link to the Helvetica documentary, but that doesn't seem to be possible on the app. So, I highlighted the word instead, and I'll leave a link for you at the end of th

Zip Zap Zop

(posted by Emily) Sorry, friends. We aren't here today to play one of my favorite icebreakers. Instead, I want to talk a little bit about traveling with electronics abroad :) Can you tell we're ready for summer break already?! When I was doing research about packing phones/iPads/computers, it was hard to find exact information about what we would need. I was looking for blog posts from travelers, talking about what they have used abroad, and was disappointed there wasn't much to read.  In the absence of a great post to cite, I figured I would create my own! Of course, we are just in planning stages at this point--I'll be sure to do a follow up once we head across the pond! You all know what an outlet looks like here in the US:  via Well, just in case you didn't know, outlets are not the same world-wide! Here are a few of our international friends:  United Kingdom European Union Italy In order to deal with all of these different sockets,

Backyard Tour

(posted by Emily) We had the opportunity to get outside on Sunday and work a bit in the backward, cleaning up leaves and sweeping dirt (and dog poop). I also had a chance to get some good photos of the backyard with my regular camera. We've been waiting to share the full scope of our space until it looked good, and we're finally happy! Here's a backyard tour for those of you who haven't seen it yet on Facebook :)  just outside the patio door, back to the garage. that window is our bedroom. the walking irises bloomed for you all, too! loving our fence post planter, all filled up! facing the rear, back to the garage--orange tree, and hammock. our raised beds are through the pergola.  our raised beds flowering ground cover--all bees are welcome! back of the house, with new plants. left window is office, right is bedroom patio furniture solar globe lights were a wedding gift! door to the garage and Rig
