Spring Break in Iceland: Day 1

March 2016  Reykjavik, Iceland 19, 259 steps Hello from Iceland! We are safely in Reykjavik, after a long day and a half of traveling.  This trip was pieced together (very expertly) by Rick, maximizing the airline miles we had available. For our trip over here, we flew United from LAX to Newark, then Newark to London. The first flight to EWR was easy--lots of movies to watch on the in-flight entertainment systems. We had a fairly tight connection (45 minutes) and were delayed getting to Newark, but managed to get on our flight to Heathrow in plenty of time.  After veggie curry and a few more movies, I slept for a few hours en route to London (Rick is not so good at sleeping on planes). We were really excited to be on United, because the United Club at Heathrow is the best one in the world--great food and drinks, beautiful design. We landed early, which was lucky for us, because we didn't have a whole lot of time before our connection to Reykjavik. But, we ...

(posted by Emily)  Thank you all for your understanding and your patience as we get caught up on our summer posts. There comes a point on every trip where we start to feel a bit burned out and tired--but we still want to share with you! So, even though we are a few weeks delayed, here is the rest of our trip! 17 to 28 July, 2015 London, England After Switzerland, it was off to spend time on our floating home! We took a British Airways flight from Zurich to London City airport. Bernie Sanders lookalike on the bus to the tarmac Somehow, I always manage to get cut off from Richard when getting on the plane. Probably because he's a foot taller than me and has a scary beard--people stay out of his way. I boarded to find him ready to go in his seat :)  Rick ordered hot tea, which came with milk in a plastic tube.  When we arrived, we hopped on the tube and eventually the train to head out to Roydon, where the boat is moored.
