(posted by Emily)  Sunday 12 October 2014 After our visit to Chihuly, we decided to head downtown toward the stadiums. The Seahawks had a game that day, and we wanted to see if the fans are really that loud .  Along the way, we came upon an Indigenous People's Day demonstration, complete with drums, signs, chanting, and reporters checking out the action.  they blocked the intersection, and cars couldn't move in any direction gotta snap a good pic We walked down to CenturyLink Field and yes...it really is that loud. We just stood outside for a few moments in awe of the noise.  Around the front of the stadium, there activities for fans and families--including an appearance by Lil Sebastian :) you're 5,000 candles in the wind We wandered through the nearby neighborhoods in search of somewhere to grab a beer and watch the game. (posted by Emily)   Sunday 12 October First on our list Sunday morning was Chihuly Garden and Glass . Ever since we stumbled upon a gallery selling his pieces at the Aria in Las Vegas , we have had an appreciation for all of the beautiful art he makes.  The museum is a retrospective, celebrating Chihuly's work and his connection to the Pacific Northwest. Here are some images of the installations--beautiful! the mirrors behind this piece make it look like it goes on forever Chihuly was inspired by Native American basket weaving--I loved the juxtaposition of his pieces next to the original baskets blankets in the Pacific Northwest room tower inspired by the sea this was one of my favorite installations--"Mille Fiori" or a thousand flowers this installation was inspired by a project when Chihuly threw a bunch of glass into a river and boy fishermen began collecting everything in their ...

(posted by Emily)  Saturday 11 October and Sunday 12 October In the same area as the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass , there is a large and colorful building with very modern architecture. Rick and I were curious to see what is was and who designed it. We were both strongly reminded of Disney Concert Hall in LA.  the monorail runs through the building amazing colors separating the car park from the museum complex Turns out, our suspicions were right on--the building was designed by Frank Gehry , the same architect who did the concert hall! It is home to the EMP Museum, which celebrates music, science fiction, and pop culture. We walked inside to see what was currently on exhibition, but decided not to do through.
